From Capstone to Company

We started SmartStreet as a team of engineering students at the University of Saskatchewan. We knew we wanted our fourth-year capstone project to do more than just sit on a shelf. We wanted to build something that made a difference right here on the prairies.

When we learned about snowplows striking hidden manholes during local winters, we knew we had found our design problem. We spent our final year working closely with municipal operators to design a solution that works for them.

What began as a local student project quickly evolved into a startup. By working directly with municipalities, we saw a clear opportunity to help cities protect their heavy equipment and support their crews.

Now, as recent grads, we are proudly building technology that protects operators from these hidden road hazards, giving them the tools they need to clear the streets safely and effectively.
